Ejecuta la herramienta WMI Diag
(http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=d7ba3cd6-18d...)
y deja por aquí el fichero de reporte para que le eche un vistazo.

Por lo pronto esto no me gusta demasiado (aunque quizá no tenga que ver con
tu problema concreto):

Abre Inicio, selecciona Mi PC con el botón derecho del ratón, Propiedades,
pestaña Opciones avanzadas, botón Variables de entorno. Haz doble clic sobre
la variable "Path" y asegúrate de que, como mínimo, estén las rutas
"%SystemRoot%\system32;%SystemRoot%;%SystemRoot%\System32\Wbem" (sin
comillas). Reinicia el sistema para que los cambios surtan efecto.

bueno... al final era por no tener la variable de entorno path,
definida... bueno es saberlo. Gracias por compartir la solución con el
grupo. Respecto a esta última cuestión, puedes ahondar en lo que
significan en este articulo.
